Restaurant Launch Roadmap: From Eight Weeks Out to Day 90

Evening trade at a Singapore food centre

Most new outlets in Singapore open with the fit-out finished and the marketing improvised. The kitchen is ready, the licences are in order, and the plan for telling anyone is a post on the morning of the first day.

A restaurant launch works better as a sequence with the slow items started early. Here is the order that tends to hold.

Eight weeks out: the restaurant launch items with long lead times

Claim and complete the business listing so the outlet exists in map results before anyone searches for it. Confirm the name, signage and menu design are consistent with each other. Commission photography of the food as it will actually be served, because launch week is too late to discover you have nothing to post.

If a launch event is part of the plan, hold the date and the venue access now rather than later.

Four weeks out: build the bank

Produce enough content to cover the first month without needing a shoot during opening week, when nobody will have time. Start telling the immediate neighbourhood, including the offices and residential blocks within walking distance, since they are the catchment that decides your weekday trade.

Brief whoever will handle enquiries on how to answer the questions that arrive before opening: when, where, whether you take bookings, and what the menu covers.

The soft launch: find the problems while the room is friendly

Run a limited period at reduced covers with a shortened menu. The purpose is operational rather than promotional: it shows you where service breaks, how long tickets actually take, and which dishes slow the pass.

Ask for candid feedback and do not invite media yet. A journalist at a soft launch reviews a restaurant that does not exist yet.

Opening week: concentrate the attention

This is the week to use media outreach and any launch event, because it is the only moment the opening is genuinely news. Keep the menu tight, staff the floor more heavily than the covers justify, and resist discounting that brings volume you cannot yet serve well.

Days 30 to 90: turn attention into habit

Opening interest fades on a predictable curve, and this is where most of the work in a restaurant launch quietly gets abandoned. Start the review habit now that there are real customers to ask. Look at which days are soft and build something specific for those, rather than promoting across the week.

Then review what the first ninety days actually showed about your catchment, your peak periods and the dishes people come back for, and plan the next quarter from that rather than from the original assumptions.

Four Media handles event management across product launches, corporate events and openings, alongside the brand, content and digital work that surrounds them. An opening is the moment where restaurant marketing in Singapore has to be sequenced rather than improvised. If you have a date in the calendar and no sequence behind it, our team can help you put one on paper.
